Guest Artists

The Longest Johns are periodically joined by guest artists on their livestreams (usually in streams titled "The Longest Johns and Friends"), greatly increasing the diversity of the music showcased and bringing new artists to fans of TLJ. The following artists have made appearances:

El Pony Pisador

"El Pony Pisador, are a five-strong group from Barcelona, they play a mix of international music styles from traditional Irish tunes to Tuvan throat singing and yodelling.". They headlined the Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival in 2017.

Rosie Calvert, from The Teacups

Sam Brookes

Jimmy Aldridge and Sid Goldsmith

"Given that they grew up just five miles apart in Norfolk and later both did the rounds in the same Bristol folk music scene, you’d be forgiven for thinking that they were destined to join forces at some point, but the route to their current status has been more circuitous than you might imagine. Goldsmith spent years working in traditional horticulture, while Aldridge obtained a PhD and worked in Westminster as an environmental policy adviser. Their paths finally crossed eight years ago, and the rest is history.".

Martin "Boohdot"

The Longest Johns fan community's own resident punsmith, Martin (alias Boohdot), played host to Andy, Dave, JD and Robbie (absent Anna who had obligations with the Norfolk Broads) in Blankenberge, Belgium. Boohdot sported an impressive set of pipes all his own, showcasing his own singing talent by leading both Pique la Baleine and Bay of Suvla. Boohdot is a member of Shantykoor Blankenberge, a choir boasting more than 40 active members which specializes in shanties.

Natalie Holmes

Adam Chance

"Adam Chance is an Americana, folk & country artist born on the Gulf coast. He currently resides in Los Angeles and tours full time with the group Home Free." Not a livestream guest (yet), but when Robbie couldn't make the first part of the 2024 US East Coast tour due to visa issues, Adam graciously filled in for the first seven shows, learning his parts on very short notice and doing a more-than-adequate job. Robbie ended up arriving in time for the seventh show, so he and Adam shared the stage for the evening, including a jointly-led rendition of Santiana.

Seán Dagher

Seán came to prominence in the sea shanty community for his renditions used in Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, as well as his long-running "Shanty of the Week" YouTube series. He is also co-artistic director of La Nef and is a member of trans-atlantic chamber folk group Skye Consort. He first collaborated with TLJ during the 2020 lockdowns on the Lowlands Low video, and has since toured with them several times.
