"Cold Winds" is a song written by midwestern maritime musician and sailor Tom Kastle. The song appears to have been written sometime in the 1980s and was covered by fellow folk musician Lee Murdock in 1991, but Kastle doesn't appear to have recorded his own version until the 1999 album Me for the Inland Lakes, released as a duo with his bandmate Chris. Another version was included on Kastle's solo 2010 album Tommy's Gone to Hilo.
